My name is Giorgia and I am doing long-term volunteering at the Yamochori ecovillage in Greece. From the first day I arrived the guys from the organisation made me feel at home, here I feel welcomed, appreciated, listened to. I am learning to rediscover myself and the world and I am acquiring many skills that will be usefull to me in my life and give me so much satisfaction. This month we built a dry path, a balcony, a bench, some chairs, we learnt how to make cheese, soap and various household cleaning products, I participated in a seminar on non-violent communication and community building, l fixed a path on the mountain. I learnt how to maintain a vegetable garden and how to grow and plant various types of vegetables, and I met many wonderful people and got closer to their language and culture. In one month here, I feel I have learnt more than I ever could have in a year outside of this wonderful place. I would like to thank Kora and Yamochori again for allowing me to live this wonderful experience and I recommend to everyone who feels the need to change something about their life and would be interested in living in a more natural environment, to jump in and try this experience, because it is really worth it.
